Ken and Joe grew up in Massachusetts. Joe and Ken first met while going to college in New Hampshire. Ken studied music, while Joe studied literature. They formed a band. They can both play guitar and drums, but in Giraffes? Giraffes! Joe taps and plucks while Ken taps and hits.

Ólafur Arnalds is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Mosfellsbær, Iceland. Ólafur Arnalds mixes strings and piano with loops and edgy beats crossing-over from classical to pop. Arnalds was a drummer of hardcore/metal bands Fighting Shit and Celestine, as well as others.

In April 2009, Arnalds composed and released a track daily for seven days, instantly making each track available within 24 hours from foundsongs.erasedtapes.com. The collection of tracks was entitled Found Songs.

Lanterns On The Lake is a six-piece indie rock band from Newcastle-upon-tyne, who formed in 2008. The band have released two EPs, ‘The Starlight EP’ (2009) and ‘Misfortunes & Minor Victories’ (2010). Budgets being tiny for the EPs, the band borrowed an eight-track recorder and captured every intimate breath and soaring crescendo in their own homes and at an isolated house in Northumberland. Handmade sleeves for both EPs reinforced the self-sufficient approach.

Their début album ‘Gracious Tide, Take Me Home’ was released on 19 September 2011 through Bella Union . The album was produced by Paul, as he did the band’s first two EPs. Relishing their independence, the band eschewed a recording studio for the album, though the loud bits were done in a basement of a shop in Newcastle.

The album 'Gracious Tide, Take Me Home' is available for £10 on Big Cartel, and EP's can be grabbed for a few quid over at Bandcamp.

Lights Out Asia is an electronic musical project that formed in February 2003 when Chris Schafer and Mike Ystad, themselves members of Aurore Rien, decided to abandon the traditional post-rock band concept of their previous group and explore the intersection of post-rock, electronic and ambient music.

The band is known for their blending of synthesized atmospheres, samples and electronic beats with tracks of effects-laden delayed guitars. Chris Schafer's vocals are often mixed low, treated almost as another instrument, akin to dream-pop or shoegazing arrangements.

The Six Parts Seven was an American post-rock band formerly based in Kent, Ohio. The band was founded in 1995, and most of the group's music is instrumental, featuring multiple "clean" (undistorted) electric guitars, with electric bass and drums, as well as electric lap steel guitar, viola, and occasionally also piano, vibraphone, or trumpet.

Rather than relying primarily on strummed chords, songs are generally built by combining single-note melodic lines. Most songs are slow, subdued, and introspective, calling to mind the sound of similarly restrained groups such as Bedhead, Low, and American Football, as well as Louisville groups such as Slint and Rodan.

Born in Hiroshima, Kashiwa Daisuke (柏大輔) started off as the composer and guitarist of post-rock band yodaka in 2001. Being inspired by the band’s psychedelic sound due to a post-rock approach, and by Maurizio Bianchi, he started a solo project in 2004.

As a solo artist his idea is to create not only acoustic, but also electronic filmy soundscapes and atmospheres, by melting together a variety of classic instruments, spoken word snippets, and crisp beats. With a proper amount of ambient music, all of these form an exquisite sound experience.
